Barnesville's visual arts program is an integral part of our academic curriculum. Our art teacher works closely with other classroom teachers to integrate art into social studies, science, language arts, and even math curriculums. Research and writing are integral to most art projects. Our ART classroom is a safe, inspiring, and joyful environment for YOU to develop ARTISTIC SKILLS and to discover your unique artistic VOICE. American history connects our fifth grade art and social studies programs, with a focus on diversity, highlighting African American, women, and Latino artists. You will explore a wide variety of art media, including drawing, painting, ceramics, mixed-media sculpture, collage, and digital art. Sixth grade examines ancient civilizations through the lens of artifacts, mythology, belief systems, and traditions of ancient cultures from around the world. You will invent your own artifacts and bring them to life using clay, and you will render an Ancient Egyptian god with contemporary symbols and powers. We introduce stop-motion animation, and students collaborate with peers to create short films.
