THREE GRADUATES OF BARNESVILLE SCHOOL OF ARTS & SCIENCES EARN HIGHEST SCOUTING HONORS Three Graduates of Barnesville School of Arts & Sciences recently earned Eagle Scout and Gold Awards from the Boy and Girl Scout organizations. Trey Valenta (Class of 2013) Barnesville alumnus Trey Valenta (Class of 2013) was awarded the Eagle Scout honor in August 2016 for his work building a new greenhouse at Barnesville. The Greenhouse is the latest addition to the School's garden spaces that provide opportunities for stu- dents to extend their learning outside the science classroom. Anne Hundertmark, Barnesville Class of 2012 Anne Hundertmark, Barnesville Class of 2012, recently earned a Gold Award from the Girl Scout Council of the Nation's Capital for creating "Much Ado" -- a modern adapta- tion of the Shakespeare comedy, Much Ado About Nothing, told from the perspective of the character Beatrice via a video blog. Anne returned to Barnesville last December to preview the first four episodes of "Much Ado" for Mr. Hart's 7th grade history stu- dents. She conducted a focus group with them to get their feedback. Hundertmark worked with fellow students from Poolesville Magnet Program for Humanities to produce two episodes a week, which can be viewed at the "Beatrice Messina" channel on You Tube. Anne recently graduated from Poolesville High School's Humanities Magnet Program as a member of the Honor Roll; Vice President of Trey is currently a senior in Poolesville High School's Global Ecology Magnet Program. Trey joined Barnesville School of Arts & Sciences Head of School Susanne Johnson, Hammet Hough (member of The Barnesville School Board of Trustees), and Tara Barnhart (Barnesville Language Arts Teacher and Arts & Sciences Coordinator) at a ribbon cutting for the School's new greenhouse following the School's annual May Day celebration last spring.
