Anne delivered the Graduation Address at Barnesville's 2016 Graduation and is cur- rently attending Saint Joseph's University as a member of the Honors College where she received the prestigious Dean's scholarship. Robert Wilbur (Class of 2012) Robert Wilbur started scouts as a second grader at The Barnesville School, in Cub Scout Pack 1241, and received his Eagle Scout December of his senior year in high school with Troop 829. He built a wood and tool shed at Black Hill Regional Park in an area used for educational purposes. The Park was looking to improve the usefulness of an existing fire ring. In addition to working with the Park on their needs and obtaining approval of his design, Robert contacted Barnesville parent and construction contractor John Hegarty, who became his mentor for the project. Robert worked with Mr. Hegarty, putting in many hours, refining the design, visiting the site, creating a supply list, ordering and arranging delivery of supplies, providing tools, and working several days to complete the project. During the project work days, Robert organized, lead, and worked with 28 volunteers (scouts, friends, adults, family) for a combined total of over 320 volunteer hours. The park nat- uralists said that his addition transformed the area, allowing them to use the site year round. Robert graduated from Poolesville High School's Global Ecology Magnet Pro- gram in 2016 and is attending The University of Maryland's Scholars Program and Engi- neering School. As part of his senior project for The Global Ecology House at Poolesville High School, Robert Wilbur (Class of 2012) returned to Barnesville to share his research on the Eastern Bluebird with Middle School stu- dents who will be monitoring nest- ing boxes on our campus.
