Cross-Curricular Learning IMAGINE Early Childhood – Chick Hatching Our youngest students learn about the life cycle caring for eggs that hatch into chicks. Pre-Kindergarten – Plastics: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle roughout the year, pre-kindergarten students learn about the envi- ronmental impact of plastic and practice the concept of reduce, reuse, recycle on a daily basis. Kindergarten – Artist Alphabet As part of the reading curriculum, students learn about an artist whose name begins with each letter of the alphabet, and in art class create their own art in the artist's style. First Grade – Cinco De Mayo Weavings, paintings, ceramics, and jewelry fill the classroom market- place at a festival that celebrates a yearlong study of Mexico's history, geography, and culture. Second Grade – Japanese Storytelling At the end of an extended interdisciplinary segment on Japan, stu- dents share journals about imagined travels throughout Japan and showcase related artwork, math, and science projects.
