ird Grade – Explorer Hall of Fame Student curators share knowledge of some of the world's great expeditions at the Explorer Hall of Fame. Students research and create life-sized figurines of famous explorers and chart their routes. Fourth Grade – State Fair Students use class time for independent research on a chosen state's geography, economy, climate, resources and government. Visitors take a tour across America at the State Fair. Fifth Grade – Civil War Studies As part of their study of the Civil War, students visit battlefields and museums and then research and take on the iconic personas of people whose names and deeds defined the era. Sixth Grade – Alternative Interpretations of 'e Giver' After reading Lois Lowry's Newbery Medal-winning novel, students explore charac- ters, plot elements, themes, and symbolism through a variety of creative multimedia projects. Seventh Grade – Science Fair Chemistry, physics, and behavioral hypotheses are tested and presented at the Sev- enth Grade Science Fair, judged by representatives from the local scientific commu- nity. Eighth Grade – Authors' Wax Museum Eighth graders choose a favorite author to research and bring the authors to life for visitors to the Authors' Wax Museum. .
