Amy Germer (Class of 2015) shares her experiences in the Venture program In the winter of ninth grade, I joined Venture Crew 27: a co-ed scout unit composed of around 45 members. Venturing is a youth-led program under the Boy Scouts of Amer- ica, serving a wide variety of outdoor leadership opportunities for youth aged 14-20. After two years, our crew has grown to 70 active youth members, and I am proud to have served as president for the past nine months, with my term ending this February. Being a part of the crew has given me countless opportunities. My first trip was a campout at the National Capital Area Council Orienteering Meet, where we navigated using maps and compasses in a competition against other scouts. One year later, I was able to participate in the same event, and my team and I won second place on the ex- pert-level course. VENTURING -- ONE GIRL'S EXPERIENCE IN SCOUTING
