WELCOME BACK, ELIZABETH GEKAS -- THE GEKAS FAMILY LEGACY CONTINUES! BY SARA TILLEY (CLASS OF 2007 AND 2016 SUMMER INTERN) Working as an intern at Barnesville this summer, I was among the first to learn the news that Elizabeth Gekas, Class of 2007, was returning as the school's first gradu- ate-turned-teacher. Having grown up "The Barnesville Way," Elizabeth is now teaching pre-kindergarten at Barnesville, joining her mother Melanie Gekas as a valued and beloved member of our faulty. Prior to teaching at Barnesville, Elizabeth taught at The Lucy School in Frederick County. Her experience with arts inte- gration there fits well with Barnesville's cross-curricular approach. Not only does Elizabeth's return speak to the maturity of the school, but it also high- lights the incredible community it fosters Sara, Class of 2007 "Coming back to Barnesville is really special for me since this is where everything started. I'm so excited to be a part of the Barnesville community again!" and the impact it has on the students. As an alum myself, I can speak to this first-hand. Once you are a member of the Barnesville community, no matter for how long, you will always be a part of the com- munity. From all the Barnesville community, wel- come back, Elizabeth!
