The Barnesville School of Arts & Sciences Class of 2016 graduation ceremony was held on Wednesday, June 15. Family and friends joined faculty, alumni, and the entire student body to celebrate the achievements of the eighth grade graduating class. True to tradition, each graduate delivered a speech reflecting back on the experiences, teachers, field trips, and friendships that defined their Barnesville education. Four of this year's 12 graduates attended Barnesville since prekindergarten. Head of School Susanne Johnson previewed the student speeches as inspiration for her remarks. "When asked what Barnesville has taught you, your comments echoed the core character values that we work to instill on a daily basis: to be kind, courteous, creative, and a leader." She continued, "When asked what Barnesville gave you, you responded without hesitation saying: opportunities, confidence, an amazing school experience, and a place to call a second home." Mrs. Johnson then introduced Anne Hundertmark, Barnesville Class of 2012, to deliver the Graduation Address. Anne recently graduated from Poolesville High School's Humanities Magnet Program as a member of the Honor Roll; a Girl Scouts Bronze, Silver, and Gold Award Recipient; Vice President of the National Honor Society; member of National Math Honor Society and National Spanish Honor Society; and First Violin in Poolesville High School Symphonic Orchestra. Anne will be attending Saint Joseph's University in the fall, as a member of the Honors College where she received the prestigious Dean's scholarship.
