Summer 2014 Dear Barnesville Community: I write today to inform you of a bittersweet moment in Barnesville School history. After nine years as the Head of our school, John Huber has decided to step down effective June 30, 2015, to pursue new career opportunities. John initiated and helped realize numerous programs that have heightened the environment of Joy, Support and Excellence at the Barnes- ville School of Arts and Sciences. We thank John for all of his wisdom, guidance and hard work on our behalf and wish him the best of luck in all future endeavors. Times like these can be particularly painful in close knit communities. Not only do we lose a member of our team so closely associated with the School's success, we lose his entire family. Janine has been a tremendous supporter of the School over the years. She has been a constant presence at school and an active participant at many events. In addition, John's sons have lived, played, learned and grown up on our campus. Personally, I will miss Jack tapping on John's of- fice window as he travels between buildings. Losing the Huber family makes this a particularly difficult transition. We are sure a wonderful future awaits them all and wish them the very best, but they will be sorely missed. In the coming months, the trustees, John, faculty, staff and the entire school community will be working to ensure a smooth transition of leadership. John's and our first priority continues to be providing an excellent educational experience for all of our students. e Board's Executive Committee has met and developed an outline of the operational plan that will insure conti- nuity of operations and direct future efforts. e detailed planning for and execution of the transition will be led by the Board with input and participation from the full Barnesville com- munity – faculty, staff and parents. Look for updates regarding our progress and opportunities to participate in the months to come. While we recognize that change can pose challenges, change also creates new opportunity. We are confident and optimistic about the opportunities to advance and grow our mission of Joy, Support and Excellence. I am excited at the prospect of starting a new chapter of Barnesville School of Arts and Sciences history. I look forward to working with everyone in the coming months as we continue to realize our strategic vision. Sincerely, Jeff D. Donohoe Chair, Board of Trustees From the Board Chair 3
