Letter from the Chair of the Board of Trustees W hen I think of Barnesville, I truly think of "community": a collection of individuals who work collaboratively for a greater purpose; everyone contributing their time, talent and treasure to a greater cause. This is truly exemplified by the entire Barnesville School community, as you will see in the 2012/2013 Annual Report. As always, our teachers, faculty and staff lead the way. Every day, they exhibit the power of dedication and a generous spirit. Our children benefit from these efforts every day. But, the generosity of our faculty goes far beyond their daily contributions to our kids. Once again, the School benefited from 100 percent participation by the faculty and staff in the Annual Fund. This is a tremendous testament to the place the School has in the hearts of the people who are here every day. Generosity takes many different forms: volunteering in the library or lunch room, working with the BPC, or being a class representative as well as many other selfless acts that are too numerous to list. All of these actions contribute greatly to the educational experience of the children. They also demonstrate to our kids the importance of being involved in something greater than ourselves. On a daily basis, the volunteers at the School demonstrate positive reinforcement of volunteering and being involved. Certainly, the generosity of our community is also demonstrated by the many families that contribute financially to the School. As you have no doubt heard, tuition covers only a portion, about 80 percent, of the School's operating costs. The financial contributions made by our many generous donors not only help to bridge this tuition gap, they allow us to build upon our strategic vision of expanding and enhancing our educational programming rooted in the arts and sciences. Your contributions to the Annual Fund, Gala and many other acts of financial support throughout the year ensure the financial well being of our School. Perhaps more importantly, you allow us to secure the promise of joy, support and excellence now and in the future. In summary, it is because of all of you: faculty, staff, parents, families, alumni, neighbors and generous benefactors throughout the community that we prosper and grow. I hope you will accept my, and the entire Board of Trustees', most sincere thanks and gratitude for the generosity you all demonstrate each and every day. Sincerely, Jeff Donohoe Board Chair Barnesville School of Arts & Sciences 1 Barnesville School 2012-2013 Board of Trustees Jeff Donohoe Chair Lynne Rasmussen Treasurer Jan Hyland Secretary Brett Don At-Large Member Julie Klingenstein At-Large Member John Huber Head of School Cheryl Amick Lynn Brown Gay Butz Brian Hundertmark Catherine Ronan Karrels Kevin Kelliher Kathy Noble Nicole Ostrander Stephen Pappas, Jr. Joseph C.
