38 Custom Guitar Channel Your Inner Rocker According to "The New York Times," you don't have to be a member of the Strokes to have this zen master of guitars set up your axe, but you DO need to be pretty well connected to meet him. Luckily, Dana Baxt Smith is VERY well connected to this legendary guitar artisan. Richie Baxt is her uncle! Richie Baxt works surrounded by guitars hanging on the walls of his New York City apartment. He lists many of the greatest names in guitar manufacturing as his neighbors. Musicians near and far seek him out for his remarkable skill in building and repairing instruments. Kurt Cobain's guitar tech has even sought him out. "Richie can make a bad guitar good, and a good guitar great, and do a repair that no one else can," says an intern. "Everybody swears by him." Richie's custom guitars are in high demand and regularly sell out every week. As a special request, Richie has crafted a custom electric guitar especially for Barnesville School's 50th Anniversary. When you pick this well-designed beauty up, plan to appreciate the craftsmanship as well as the amazing notes as you play. Understand that this is a collector's art piece, much more than just a functioning musical instrument. "I believe a guitar has a personality. It has a soul. It's an instrument that communicates with you. It can help you express yourself," says Baxt. Stamped with the Richie's Guitar logo, this custom built, pink Telecaster sports a sweet diamond plate and rainbow strings. Set the stage on fire with glow-in- the-dark strings, and custom pick-ups for the best sound delivery to your amp. Enjoy this remarkable and collectable electric guitar made just for you!
