"e Barnesville Way" is defined by nine
core values: Kindness, Service,
Perseverance, Respect, Initiative,
Courage, Cooperation, Responsibility,
and Honesty. Regular meetings are held
in the classroom, among divisions, and in
whole-school assemblies to reinforce
respect, responsibility, integrity, and
concern for others.
Character Education
Every morning, we bring together
our entire faculty and student body to
start the day as a community. Students
sit together by class and start with the
Pledge of Allegiance. Middle School students lead the meeting, sharing facts and
trivia related to schoolwide themes, updates on school events, and recognizing
birthdays. Morning Meeting is also a venue for kids to share their talents and
experiences with a supportive audience. At times, there will be a group activity tied into
the Character Word of the Month or current events. At the close of Morning Meeting,
students line up to greet a teacher or administrator with a handshake to start the day.
Morning Meeting
e goal of the advisory program is to
provide a structure that creates "con-
nectedness" in the middle school. Each
middle school teacher is an advisor and
meets with a mixed group of students
(5th/6th and 7th/8th) twice a week. e
advisor provides mentorship and support
through group discussion and activities.
Middle School Advisory
Barnesville students learn to be caring and compassionate through community
service projects such as Help the Homeless Walk-a-thon, greeting cards for injured
servicemen, support for the Frederick Rescue Mission, and work at Leveling the
Playing Field.
