es, the Venturing program places a priority on leadership development. Becoming an officer in Crew 27 requires completion of National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT), a week-long course designed to develop communication, planning, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. As president, I didn't stop at NYLT. This past summer, I attended the National Advanced Youth Leadership Experience (NAYLE) at Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico. NAYLE is an opportunity to execute the skills learned at NYLT, and is offered at Boy Scout high adventure bases in West Virginia, Minnesota, Florida, and New Mexico. The development and execution of these skills have made vast im- provements of my ability to lead myself and others, and are important steps on my way to college and the workforce. Being a Venturer also means access to Boy Scouting events, as I've at- tended the National Scout Jambo- ree and summer camp at Goshen Scout Reservation. With monthly camping trips and a three-month summer program, Crew 27 has defi- nitely kept me busy! Aside from the outdoor experienc- -- Amy is a junior at Poolesville School in the Global Ecology Magnet Program
