GROW
Our program offers opportunities for personal growth beyond academics. We
value social responsibility and the development of personal values, starting in
the earliest grades.
Most adults can relate to the sentiment in Robert Fulghum's poem, "All I
Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten," recognizing that many
important things students learn in school are not measured on tests. Research
shows that social skills like self-control, perseverance, and conscientiousness are
important throughout life and that these skills can and need to be taught, learned,
and developed.
We call it e Barnesville Way. Our emphasis on community and responsibility to
one another is rooted in our mission of joy, support, and excellence. It starts each
morning when we greet students in the car line before our school-wide morning
meeting, after which we model mutual respect by shaking each student's hand to
start the day.
MORNING MEETING
Every morning we bring together our entire faculty and student body to begin
the day as a community. Middle Schoolers lead the Pledge of Allegiance and
share school news and announcements. Students are dismissed by grade and are
greeted by name and a hand shake as they exit to their homeroom.
