Our beautiful 30-acre campus in Montgomery County's Agricultural Reserve is our extended classroom, enabling us to integrate NATURE into our everyday learning. Barnesville is certified as a Maryland Green School by the Maryland Association for Environmental and Outdoor Education, demonstrating achievement in curriculum and instruction, community partnerships, and best management practices. Natural environments including green spaces provide children with unique opportunities such as inciting engagement, risk taking, discovery, creativity, mastery and control, strengthening sense of self, inspiring basic emotional states including sense of wonder, and enhancing psychological restoration. – Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences NATURE In October of 2014, Barnesville was certified as a National Wildlife Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation for sustaining and promoting natural habitats on campus.
