Barnesville School Magazine Kelly: What is your favorite memory of the Barnesville School? Some of my fondest memories at the Barnesville School are of the friendships that I made while I was there. I also really enjoyed the holiday shows that they had while I was there. Kelly Ratliff Julia (3rd) Is there anything that Julia has done at Barnesville that you also did when you were at Barnesville? If so, what? There have been several things that both Julia and I have done. Every year I made a special plate that I decorated during the holidays. Julia has also done this every year that she has been at the Barnesville School. Also, while I was there they had holiday shows just like they do now. When I was there, the parents often invited students to come over to their houses to learn about different things. Julia has also done this while she has been at the Barnesville School. What was it about the Barnesville School that made you want Julia to have the same experience? I loved the small family community at the Barnesville School when I was there and I wanted my daughter to have the same nurturing environment to learn. Julia: What is your favorite thing about the Barnesville School? My favorite things are all of the exciting math lessons. I really like math! I also like the buddy program. What are you most looking forward to doing at Barnesville in the future? I want to participate in the young performers program and perform in a play at the School. Barbara: What is your favorite memory of the Barnesville School? My favorite memories include singing for Bill Clinton at the White House, field trips – especially the 8th grade class trip to New York City – and, Egyptian Night with Mrs. King in 6th grade. Is there anything that Cienna has done at Barnesville that you also did when you were at Barnesville? If so, what? When I was at Barnesville, every year we made holiday plates. I love that the tradition is still going and Cienna brings home a holiday plate to add to the collection every year. Barbara Stull Cienna (3rd) 5 What was it about the Barnesville School that made you want Cienna to have the same experience? Barnesville was more than just a school – it was an experience. Looking back on my education at Barnesville, there was so much real application to the material through field trips and assemblies that you don't get at other schools. I have great memories of going to a small, tight nit community school at Barnesville and I wanted that for Cienna, too. Cienna: What is your favorite thing about the Barnesville School? My favorite thing is that the teachers take time to help students understand when they have questions. The teachers really want you to learn. What are you most looking forward to doing at Barnesville in the future? I am looking forward to the 8th grade field trip to New York.
