The Cameo Chicken Critics Corner By Sara Jensen The Mind Readers by Lori Brighton O nce upon a time there was a blue chicken. Not that he was sad, he was literally blue. His name was Henry. It was his first day of school. Henry was so excited that he jumped around the house begging his mom to let him go already. "If you were to go now, Henry, you would be two hours early," said his exasperated mom. So Henry waited, and waited, and waited. He spun in circles, he jumped up and down, and finally he sat against the wall and sighed. His mom finally called for him to go. The Mind Readers is a book about a kid, Cameron, who lives with her grandmother. Cameron is fed up with the life her grandmother has forced her into. When a stranger visits her town and she sees a glimmer of hope. She goes with Lewis to this "Heaven" that he describes. Soon she finds that this "Heaven" is too good to be true. This puts her sense of good and bad to the test. Not only that her life is in danger not in the way one might think. They both flew out of the door. Since he was blue, he blend- I would give this book a 3.5 out ed into the blue sky. He flew and flew and flew. He flew of 5. until he could see the school. No one talked to him during flying class. No one talked to him at recess. No one talked ~ Patrick Rodriguez to him when they were in PE class playing volleyball in the air. No one even passed him the ball. No one talked to him because they could not see him. He became very sad. This time he was both sad and blue. He flew past a group of normal-colored chickens. They continued to laugh togethWhat To Do: er and did not acknowledge poor Henry. Advice from Anjuna Ohlke When Henry went home, he was very very very sad. He sat on his bed and stared at the wall. His mom came up to check on him. "Are you alright? You haven't said anything all day!" "No one talked to me at school!" He replied. "Well, did you talk to them?" Asked his mom. "No." "Well try that tomorrow." "Do I have to go tomorrow?" "Yes you have to go." "Fine." Hi I'm Anjuna Ohlke and I'm here to tell you what to do if bad things happen. For example if you lose your iPad, scream and panic then calm down and remember you have a tracking device on your iPad. See what great advice I give. Now lets get back to my great advice. Now if you forgot to study for a test calm down and realize you will fail this test and your life is now over. Just kidding your life is not over just don't forget to study. Lets see what are other problems. Oh, got one. If you're at a party and your clothing rips. Don't worry just go to the bathroom and worry. Then call a family member or friend and tell them the problem. Next ether tell them to come pick you up or ask them to bring you some clothes. Next problem. If you break one of your parents most valuable things from their childhood you should find the super glue your parents always tell you not to go near and glue the thing back together. If that doesn't work blame it on the sibling. Well that's all the trouble you should get in this month (I hope). So if you do have any more problems just wait till next month. The next day, Henry woke up five minutes before school started. He hurried out of the house. Henry flew up to another chicken he saw on the way and said, "Hi!" The chicken screamed and flew away. Henry was bewildered. This was much more fun than not talking to anyone. He flew up to another chicken and did the same thing. The chicken screamed and fainted. Henry laughed and hurried to the school building. He flew throughout every class and said hi. The classes all screamed. He laughed and joined the circus. 4
