Gala & Auction 2013 Auction Rules GENERAL AUCTION RULES: These rules apply to both the Silent Auction and Live Auction. 1. All guests receive bid numbers and bid-number stickers during check-in. Couples are assigned one bid number to facilitate payment. Please bring this catalog with you to the Auction. 2. All sales are transactions between the purchaser and the donor. The Barnesville School makes no warrenties, expressed or implied, nor shall The Barnesville School be held liable for any injuries or other direct or indirect consequential damages that may be incurred. 3. In the event a purchased item or service cannot be provided by the donor, the Auction Committee, at its sole discretion, reserves the right to refund the purchase, provide a credit toward the next annual auction or substitute a similar item or service of equal or greater value. All claims for a refund, credit or substitution must be made within one year from the date of the auction. 4. Full payment by the successful bidder, by cash, check, Visa, MasterCard or American Express, must be made the night of the event. 5. Only an authorized auction official may nullify a bid. 6. In the event of a dispute, auction officials may act as final authority and determine the winning bidder. Their decision is final. 7. It is the bidder's responsibility to report to the cashier's table to learn if they have the winning bid. 8. All auction items must be removed from BlackRock Center for the Arts by the end of the evening. Items may be removed only by exhibiting a paid receipt at the time of departure. 9. Estimated fair market value of each item is listed in the catalog. Amount bid in excess of fair market value may be tax deductible; consult your tax advisor. 10. Certain items may be subject to 6% sales tax. 11. All auction items expire within one year of the date of the auction, unless otherwise indicated. SILENT AUCTION RULES: These rules, in addition to the General Rules, apply to the Silent Auction. 1. Bidding for the Silent Auction opens at 6:30 pm, April 20, 2013. Catagories close in stages during the evening. Please refer to the closing times listed at the top of each Catalog page. On event night, announcements are made before each closing. All categories are closed by 8 pm. 2. Bids sheets are displayed in front of or near each item. Bidders affix their pre-printed bid-number stickers next to the amount of the bid on the bid sheets. 3. Each new bid may be placed on any line the bidder chooses. Feel free to jump the bid! Silent Auction bids are disqualified if the minimum raise is not sufficient. At no point during the Silent Auction are opening bids reduced. Opening bids are, on average, 50% of the auction item's value. 4. An authorized auction official may disqualify a bid if the bidder is blocking an item 15 minutes prior to the Silent Auction closing. LIVE AUCTION RULES: These rules, in addition to the General Rules, apply to the Live Auction. 1. The Live Auction begins by 9:00 pm, April 20, 2013. ABSENTEE BIDS: Anonymous bidders will attend the Auction and bid on behalf of an absentee bidder and bid based on the top limit amount indicated for each item listed. 1. Completed Abstentee Bid forms must be submitted on or before Noon on April 19, 2013. Forms can be faxed to 301.972.4076 or delivered to The Barnesville School Communications Office. 2. Successful bidders are notified within five business days following the auction. 3. Full payment is required prior to pick-up at The Barnesville School.
