LEARNING THROUGH PLAY Art Visual ar t lessons expose students to the core elements of ar t: texture, line, shape, color, form, space, and value. Ar t experiences are pro- cess-focused, allowing children to use their imaginations to guide the creation of their product. We exper- iment with different mediums and tools to give students a full range of ar tistic ex- ploration. Our program is designed to promote motivated and independent learners. Students explore core sub- ject areas such as reading, math, science, and history through stimulating and developmentally appropriate lessons, putting in place the building blocks for all future learning. e experience is enhanced by art, drama, music, Spanish, library time, P.E., exploring nature, and other enriching activities. Our schedule reflects a balance of child-initiated and teacher-directed activities, encouraging exploration and risk-taking, while providing the scaffolding need- ed for social and emotional growth. We offer two distinct preschool programs: • Early Childhood (EC) for 3-year-olds and • Pre-Kindergarten (Pre-K) for 4-year-olds. Both are half-day, morning programs with optional afternoon enrichment that includes additional teacher instruction and specials. Early Childhood families can choose a three- (T/W/TH) or five- (M-F) day week. Preschool children learn best in an active and play-based environment. Drama Processed drama is a rich methodology that ignites the imagination through story. Children act out stories and interact with the teach- er and fellow students in improvised role-play activities. Drama les- sons create community, build empathy, promote problem solving and critical thinking skills, as well as reinforce literacy and mathematical concepts. Cognitive, social/emotional, and physical components are included in all lessons.
